2.22.13 Tabuk, Alula and Neom Urban VFR Routes (UVRs)

Note: The following procedures are supplementary to procedures published in ENR 1.2 Visual Flight Rules.

Tabuk, Alula and Neom UVRs originate at the designated VFR reporting points (VRP) and connect with Riyadh UVRs.
  • Route adherence and complaint:
  1. UVRs are bidirectional
  2. VFR flights operating on UVRs must adhere to the defined path and designated VRPs.
  3. UVRs are subject to modification either upon pilot’s request or as instructed by ATC.
  • Altitudes:
  1. The maximum UVR altitude within Tabuk TMA part 1 is 500ft AGL, and Tabuk TMA part 2 is 1500ft AGL. Any request for higher altitude is subject to ATC approval.
  2. The minimum UVR altitude for NEM2 UVR over NMALA, ZBIDH, DUBA and South Gate is 5,500 FT AGL.
  • ATC Clearance:
  1. VFR flights on UVRs are subject to ATC clearance, while within controlled airspace.
  2. VFR flights shall obtain ATC clearance before leaving UVR to enter Tabuk CTR.
  3. VFR flights intending to operate at an altitude higher than the maximum UVR altitude are subject to ATC clearance.
  • Pilot responsibility:
  1. Pilots are required to obtain ATC clearance to operate within controlled airspace.
  2. It is the responsibility of the pilot in command to monitor other traffic, whether approaching from the opposite or same direction, along the UVRs.
  3. Pilots shall remain vigilant to see and avoid other aircraft.
  4. UVRs are recommended routes, and pilots are responsible for seeing and avoiding terrain and obstacles.
  5. Pilots must maintain a listening watch on the assigned radio frequency.
